Foster Understanding and Respect in a Caring Barnet School

A thoughtful and engaging Religious Education Teacher is required for a temporary part-time position at a well-regarded Independent school in Barnet, commencing as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity to join a school known for its nurturing environment and commitment to developing students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural understanding across Key Stages 3 and 4 (aged 11-16).

Responsibilities

  • You will plan and deliver engaging Religious Education lessons that explore a range of faiths, beliefs, and ethical perspectives.
  • The role involves fostering students’ critical thinking skills and promoting respect, tolerance, and understanding of diverse worldviews.
  • You will cultivate a reflective and inclusive classroom environment where students feel empowered to explore their own beliefs and engage in thoughtful discussions.
  • You will assess and monitor student progress in Religious Education with care, providing constructive feedback that encourages their intellectual and personal development.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a specialism in Religious Education or Theology is essential.
  • Experience teaching engaging and effective RE lessons at Key Stages 3 and 4 is highly desirable.
  • A broad and current understanding of different religious traditions and ethical frameworks is expected.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside strong classroom management and the ability to facilitate sensitive discussions, are vital.
