Job Description

Privacy Solicitor

Our client, a well known global organisation with a well-established in-house legal function, is seeking a Privacy Solicitor to join its Group Legal team. This is a dynamic role supporting global operations on data protection, digital transformation, and privacy risk — offering the opportunity to work at the forefront of legal and regulatory change.

Reporting to the Group Privacy Counsel, you’ll provide legal advice across a broad range of privacy matters and collaborate with stakeholders in Digital, IT, Information Security, HR, Procurement, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on the full range of data privacy issues, including compliance with GDPR, the UK Data Protection Act, and PECR
  • Draft and negotiate data processing agreements, data transfer clauses, and privacy-related provisions in commercial contracts
  • Review and advise on ROPAs, DPIAs, vendor assessments, and other privacy-related due diligence as part of digital and AI-driven projects
  • Monitor regulatory developments, including the EU AI Act, and advise the business on their implications
  • Support investigations and response planning for personal data breaches and broader cyber preparedness initiatives
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of data protection policies, training, and internal controls
  • Collaborate with business units across jurisdictions on day-to-day privacy queries and compliance strategies

About You:

  • You are a qualified solicitor with strong experience in data privacy law, ideally gained in-house or with a focus on financial institutions
  • You have a sound understanding of GDPR, UK DPA, PECR, and ideally, exposure to the EU AI Act
  • You’re confident drafting and negotiating privacy-related agreements and engaging with operational and technical teams
  • You have strong analytical and communication skills and can translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical guidance
  • You work well independently and within a close-knit team, and are adaptable, proactive, and detail-focused
  • You have a genuine interest in data privacy and thrive in a role that blends legal insight with digital innovation
