SEN Support Worker, HyndburnWe are seeking a SEN Support Worker to join our specialist team in Hyndburn supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including autism, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and communication challenges.This is not a typical classroom role. Our pupils require personalised support, and you’ll be working closely with them to help build routine, emotional regulation, and confidence both in and out of the classroom. You’ll be part of a warm, multidisciplinary team dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can thrive.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)Assist pupils with personal care tasks such as toileting, feeding, and mobility support where requiredHelp deliver structured learning and therapeutic activities under the guidance of teachers and specialistsSupport emotional and behavioural regulation using trauma-informed approachesPromote independence and positive communication using tools like Makaton, PECS, or AAC (training available)Maintain a safe, supportive and engaging environment for all pupilsWho We’re Looking ForWe value character, compassion, and consistency above all.You might come from a background in:Care or support work (children or adults)Health or social careYouth work or mentoringEducation or early yearsOr you might simply be someone with strong interpersonal skills, a calm and caring nature, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.Essential qualities:Patience, empathy and a proactive mindsetWillingness to carry out personal care with dignity and respectGood communication and teamwork skillsA flexible, “can-do” attitude and emotional resilienceDesirable (but not essential):Experience working with children or young people with SENDKnowledge of behaviour support strategies or communication toolsRelevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care)All candidates are subject to DBS checks, reference checks, and CV covering full working history.Apply now to be a SEN Support Worker in Hyndburn now!
