AI Engineer / Data Scientist

Location: London (Hybrid – 1 day per week in-office)

Salary: Up to £90,000 + 10% bonus + equity

We’re looking for a curious, product-minded AI Engineer/Data Scientist to join a high-performing, close-knit team working on cutting-edge AI solutions in NLP and time series. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to both the experimentation and long-term success of impactful, user-facing AI systems.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Building and iterating on AI prototypes using NLP and time series data.
• Supporting two business-critical systems powered by NLP and OCR.
• Designing your own evaluation sets and rigorously testing the performance of your ML models.
• Rapidly delivering front-end tools that bring immediate value to users.
• Ensuring reliability of your systems through comprehensive unit and end-to-end testing.
• Integrating and managing LLM APIs while handling diverse and unpredictable outputs.

What You’ll Bring:

• 5+ years of Python experience and 3+ years working with data science/AI products.
• Proven track record in NLP/OCR-based AI or ML systems.
• A strong product focus – solving real user problems is what drives you.
• Experience building lightweight, functional UIs and tools.
• A disciplined approach to testing and maintaining long-lived systems.

Bonus Points for:

• Familiarity with financial services or private equity environments.
• Experience with Azure, Postgres, Streamlit, or similar tools.
• Practical experience with document-based RAG, Q&A, or fact extraction tasks.
• Thriving in small teams with fast feedback and iteration loops.
