Legal Recruitment Director | In-House Legal Recruitment Specialist | Placing Top Legal Talent Across the UK

W&P Partners is proud to partner with a fast-growing AI technology company in Central London. We are looking for a junior-to-mid Legal Counsel to join a pivotal in-house team and support a business at the intersection of software development and AI, with a particular focus on open-source compliance and licensing.

The Opportunity

This newly created role reports directly to the General Counsel and offers the chance to provide practical, commercial legal advice across the business, including to senior leadership. You will:

• Advise on commercial contracts, open-source licensing, and data processing agreements.
• Manage intellectual property and ensure data privacy compliance.
• Support product development to mitigate legal risk.
• Advise on disputes and emerging legal issues.
• Monitor trends in AI, technology law, and open-source compliance to provide actionable guidance.
• Hybrid role based 3 days a week in the Central London office.

Experience & Skills

• Qualified solicitor with 3+ PQE, experienced in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Experience with open-source software or licensing is highly desirable.
• In-house experience (current or via secondment) is advantageous.
• Commercially minded, confident, and able to manage competing priorities independently.
• Able to provide practical, clear legal advice in a fast-moving, innovative environment.
