MacGregor Black are partnering with a privately owned luxury fashion brand to appoint a Finance Director for its UK business. This is a critical leadership role within the UK subsidiary of an international fashion group. Reporting into the UK Managing Director with a dotted line to Group Finance you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership while retaining full accountability for financial operations governance and performance. The role will be based in London 4 days a week.
The business operates across multiple divisions including wholesale retail and ecommerce. Wholesale and department store exposure is seen as highly advantageous. Fashion experience would be welcomed though strong adjacent consumer profiles will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personally oversee quarterly and annual close processes ensuring accuracy and adherence to Group deadlines
- Own the integrity of accounting and bookkeeping across all UK divisions
- Ensure full compliance with local GAAP legal and fiscal requirements
- Act as primary point of contact for external auditors managing interim and year end audits
- Prepare and submit annual ESG reporting in line with Group standards
- Review and authorise bi monthly payment runs including payroll maintaining strong internal controls
- Lead treasury and cash management including short and medium term cash forecasting
- Manage wholesale and department store credit risk across all divisions
- Oversee annual insurance renewals and manage claims in line with Group policy
- Partner closely with the Managing Director and commercial teams analysing profitability and cost structures
- Deliver ad hoc client channel and margin analysis to support trading decisions
- Draft and present seasonal price lists twice yearly ensuring margin protection
- Prepare and present the annual Budget and Forecast for the Trading and Agency business to the Board
- Review ecommerce budgets forecasts and actual performance
- Present actual results and annual performance to the Board with clear variance explanations
- Review and explain quarterly and annual divisional performance to Group Controlling
- Lead develop and manage a local finance team of four
- Set objectives conduct performance reviews and build a high accountability culture
What We're Looking For:
- ACA ACCA or CIMA qualified
- Eight plus years progressive finance experience ideally within fashion retail or wholesale
- Strong understanding of seasonality stock dynamics and wholesale credit exposure
- Proven ability to operate hands on while maintaining strategic oversight
- ERP experience preferred SAP and or Sage
- Fluent English with Italian language skills highly advantageous
- Confident resilient and credible in fast paced deadline driven environments
