Opportunity: Principal Highway Structures Engineer
Location: Manchester (Hybrid)

We require the services of a Principal Highway Structures Engineer to support the delivery of Highways Structures schemes in Manchester.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical delivery and approval of highway design and structural engineering projects, including structural investigations, movement orders, and ensuring compliance with current design guidance and legislation.
- Support the Team Leader in managing the Engineering Design Team to ensure delivery of complex and innovative technical solutions in line with customer and legislative requirements.
- Undertake and support feasibility studies, consultations, and surveys as required.
- Manage project communication with stakeholders, including residents, businesses, and elected members, throughout the project. This includes responding to inquiries and organizing consultation events.
- Produce approval reports and manage scheme documentation effectively.
- Coordinate with other Council sections and developers to ensure a cohesive approach to traffic management and highway maintenance works.
- Manage project budgets and ensure financial and procurement accountability.
- Comply with CDM regulations and health and safety legislation.
- Provide technical supervision, support, and guidance to junior staff members.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and procedures, and a working knowledge of standard engineering specifications for similar roles.
