Base pay range

Salary up to £60,000 + £15,000 in additional bonus

Cheltenham (flexible working available while clearance is processed)

Must be eligible for high-level UK Government Clearance

Sanderson Government and Defence are working with a major global technology provider supporting secure UK Government programmes.

Overview

We’re looking for a Virtualisation Engineer with strong Wintel and virtualisation experience, who either holds or is eligible for high-level UK Government Clearance. This is a great opportunity to join a team delivering mission-critical services in secure environments, with a strong focus on innovation, collaboration, and continual improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1st to 3rd line technical support across virtualised environments
• Monitor system performance and ensure smooth functionality
• Mentor more junior engineers
• Liaise with end client stakeholders
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Support compliance with internal processes and policies

• Experience working to ITIL best practices
• A proactive mindset with a focus on root cause analysis
• A collaborative approach to knowledge sharing and learning

Relevant Technologies and Skills

Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:

• Virtualisation: VSAN, SCVMM, Hyper-V, VMWare
• Windows Server (2016/2019), Active Directory, DFS
• Red Hat technologies: Satellite 6, OpenShift 3/4, RHEL/CentOS
• Networking: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LAN/WAN
• Scripting: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Git
• Security tools: McAfee EPO/ENS
