About the people and their home

Wilbury Gardens is a specialist residential home in Hove, East Sussex, providing 24hour support for eight deaf and/or deafblind people who use British Sign Language (BSL) as their primary language.The people we support have a wide range of needs, including learning and physical disabilities, mental health conditions,autismand dementia.

Our dedicated team promotes a culture of personcentred active care, ensuring support is tailored to everyone's needs, preferences, beliefs and personality. Each person is assigned a Linkworker who assists with all aspects of their care, including health appointments, emotional wellbeing, social inclusion and setting personal goals for the future.

Wilbury Gardens offers a varied and engaging activity programme within the home, as well as regular access to social events,therapiesand community groups. As a bespoke deaf service, communication is at the heart of everything we do.Whether through BSL, Sign Supported English, Makaton or lip reading, our team is committed to breaking down communication barriers and advocating for the people we support.

To ensure highquality communication, all team membersare required toachieve a minimum of British Sign Language Level 1. This qualification is fully funded, and Deaf Awareness training is provided during induction.
