Head of Finance Operations

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Finance Operations to join a new national service at a critical stage in its development, playing a central role in establishing the organisation from the ground up.

Working closely with senior leaders and key partners, the post holder will lead the design and implementation of the financial systems, controls and governance arrangements required to support a newly established organisation. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced senior finance professional to build a finance function from inception, ensuring that public funds are managed with integrity, transparency and value for money. Acting as the operational lead for finance, with responsibility for establishing core accounting, budgeting, forecasting and reporting systems, alongside policies and governance, you will work collaboratively with procurement, technology, data, operations and legal teams to ensure financial processes are fully embedded into the wider organisational build.

You should be a professionally qualified accountant (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant senior level finance leadership experience, ideally in the public sector or a complex delivery environment. You will bring demonstrable experience of establishing financial systems and governance arrangements for new or transforming organisations, alongside strong technical expertise and the ability to operate credibly with senior stakeholders.

The initial duration of the contract will be six months with a view to potential extension and it is offered as a hybrid working arrangement with two days on site anticipated.
