Overview
Our client is an award-winning multi-disciplinary group of Environmental and Engineering specialists comprising civil, structural, and geotechnical / geo environmental engineers who deliver a variety of complex construction challenges, site investigations, land contamination risk assessments, geotechnical engineering surveys, flood risk assessments, amongst other surveys, and have years of expertise in adopting a pragmatic approach to complex engineering challenges.
They are seeking an ambitious and talented Commercial Director to join the senior management team. This is a pivotal role with clear targets and excellent long-term prospects. The successful candidate will drive business development, optimise client relationships, and lead commercial growth strategies across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Sales Growth
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities.
- Expand and optimise the client base through proactive engagement.
- Develop and implement sales strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Client Relationship Management
- Attend client meetings, industry events, and networking opportunities.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
- Commercial Strategy & Leadership
- Contribute to strategic planning as part of the senior management team.
- Set and monitor clear sales and revenue targets.
- Oversee contract negotiations and ensure profitable outcomes.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to sales and business development teams.
- Operational & Financial Oversight
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform strategy.
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and profit margins.
- Drive efficiency and profitability across commercial operations.
Requirements
- Proven track record in sales, business development, and commercial leadership.
- Background in construction or related industries is advantageous.
- Multi discipline background across different sectors or service lines would be a strong advantage.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to deliver against clear targets.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid environment, balancing office, client site, and event attendance.
- Ambitious, results-driven, and motivated by long-term growth opportunities.
