Job Overview
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Head of Healthcare for the Integrated Healthcare Service at Oasis Restore. The role requires a leader who can work in line with 'Child First' principles, looking after the healthcare needs of the young people we care for while promoting health and well‑being for this population to support their future successes.
The successful candidate will be an experienced registered healthcare professional with a proven track record of delivering high‑quality services in the NHS, prison healthcare, social care or the private sector. They will lead by example, commit to team and partnership working and have the skills to lead a diverse, multi‑disciplinary healthcare team. Excellent communication skills and a modernising mindset are essential to develop services that meet the needs of all young people who reside at the school.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality, age‑appropriate health and wellbeing services to young people residing at Oasis Restore School in accordance with evidence‑based practice and local policies and procedures.
- Hold overall responsibility for delivery of responsive healthcare services, ensuring compliance with clinical and financial governance frameworks.
- Manage and deliver integrated health services within ORSS, working with the Head of CYPSL and HJS Directors to implement strategic direction operationally.
- Lead change management in the implementation of service development strategies, monitor and coordinate the work of the healthcare team, and ensure delivery, performance and effectiveness of the service.
- Develop future plans, standards and systems for secure‑settings health services, collaborating with the Commissioning Team, ORSS Director and other stakeholders.
- Deputise for the Head of CYPSL where appropriate and contribute to the operational management of ORSS.
- Prepare and manage the healthcare budget, ensuring services are delivered according to commissioned requirements, including management of sub‑contracted services.
- Identify and participate in tendering for new business opportunities and deliver robust financial management, including Cost Improvement Programmes (CIP).
- Prepare accurate financial information for business cases and bids in liaison with the Finance Department.
- Contribute to the establishment of new services that meet national and local requirements as a member of the Senior Management team.
Essential Requirements
- Registered healthcare professional.
- Experience or demonstrated understanding of working with children or young adults.
- Substantial post‑registration experience in a senior leadership role.
- Resident in the UK for at least 3 years.
- Registered nurse or any other professional qualification, educated to degree level or above, or equivalent.
- Experience of a senior management position within healthcare services at Band 8A or equivalent.
- Proven experience managing a multi‑disciplinary team including senior managers and clinicians.
- Experience organising and chairing steering groups.
- Experience working within statutory and regulatory frameworks, translating them to operational practice.
- Experience managing a diverse workforce.
- Ability to organise workload, adjust priorities and meet deadlines consistently.
- Understands external context at national and local level and can translate it to enable teams.
- Knows own strengths and weaknesses, empowers others, adopts a ‘can‑do’ approach.
- Demonstrates resilience, recognises anxieties of others and assists them to manage appropriately.
- Strong commitment to openness, honesty, inclusiveness and high standards.
