Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as Senior Legal Counsel for our Telematics Division.
You will be responsible for an interesting and wide variety of legal work, reporting to our Head of Legal – Telematics. You will work as part of a closely knit Legal team that reports into the Chief Business Officer alongside our Compliance and ESG teams. The wider Legal team provides support to our Fuel Card and Emerging Business divisions and our central Group functions. The environment in which we work is fast‑moving and commercial.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Business Partnering:
- business partnering with the Telematics Division to understand their objectives and provide legal solutions that align with overall group and divisional goals;
- develop specialty in‑depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory risks relevant to the Telematics Division and provide practical guidance and solutions to support the mitigation of those risks.
- Legal Advisory:
- provide tactical and strategic legal advice to the business on a wide range of legal issues and business projects, both across the Telematics Division and also to the wider Radius Group;
- review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements, including customer terms and conditions, supplier contracts and reseller agreements;
- develop specialist, in‑depth knowledge of the commercial issues and agreements relevant to the Telematics Division.
- Legal compliance:
- stay abreast of relevant laws and regulations affecting the Radius Group and, in particular, the Telematics Division and ensure compliance, working closely with our Compliance team;
- conduct training sessions for employees to ensure wider awareness of legal risk and compliance.
- Litigation management:
- manage and oversee dispute resolution matters within the Telematics Division, working closely with external counsel when necessary;
- develop and implement strategies, policies and procedures to minimise legal exposure and resolve disputes efficiently.
- Risk management:
- identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and propose and implement strategies to mitigate those risks;
- work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to implement risk management initiatives.
- In addition to the above, undertake such duties as may reasonably be requested and that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
Qualifications
- UK qualified, with 10+ years PQE and a current practising certificate.
- Substantial commercial experience, preferably at least some of which has been gained in‑house.
- Proven track record in providing pragmatic and business‑focused legal advice to senior stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.
- Experience in managing and overseeing dispute resolution matters.
- Ownership of projects and tasks through to completion.
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Adaptability to advise on matters in overseas jurisdictions with support from external counsel when necessary.
