The Opportunity
We’re seeking a motivated and ambitious Manager to join EY’s specialist Private Tax team in London. The role requires a strong technical foundation, proven relationship‑building skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional client service.
The team works with a broad range of entrepreneurial, owner‑managed, PE‑backed, and AIM‑listed businesses, as well as their shareholders, family offices, ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals, private equity clients, and professional partnerships. Our advisory services cover compliance, residence and domicile issues, wealth optimisation, estate and succession planning, and cross‑border support through EY’s international network.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Drive business development and identify new opportunities
- Manage the delivery of complex and demanding tax consulting projects
- Ensure technical excellence and a practical, business‑driven approach
- Supervise, coach, and mentor junior team members
- Contribute to team initiatives, including training, retention, and development
Skills and Attributes for Success
- Client‑focused with strong strategic and commercial awareness
- Excellent tax technical expertise
- Proven relationship management and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Confident negotiator, able to articulate and defend opinions effectively
- Demonstrated business development experience
- Strong time management and ability to perform under pressure
- Project management skills with a focus on delivery and budget control
- Experience advising a range of clients (AIM‑listed, PE‑backed, family‑owned, and OMBs)
- Creative and pragmatic problem‑solver
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
- ACA / CTA / Tax Inspector qualification (with full technical training), Law qualification, or equivalent tax specialist qualification
- Strong tax technical and business development skills
- Experience coaching and developing junior staff
