Mobile Fabric Engineer / Joiner - Facilities Management
Role Overview
The Mobile Fabric/Joiner Engineer will deliver a wide range of building fabric maintenance, repairs, and minor installation works across multiple client sites. This role suits a versatile tradesperson with strong carpentry/joinery skills and a solid understanding of general building maintenance. The position requires regular travel, independent working, and a customer‑focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive fabric maintenance, including doors, locks, ironmongery, skirting, flooring, and general carpentry.
- Complete minor joinery works, such as fitting shelves, building small structures, repairing furniture, and installing fixtures.
- Undertake general building repairs, including basic plumbing, patch plastering, painting, tiling, and minor masonry.
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests, ensuring safe and timely resolution.
- Conduct site inspections to identify defects, safety issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate job records using digital systems and provide clear updates to clients and supervisors.
- Support small project works and refurbishments as required.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment to a professional standard.
- Represent the company positively when interacting with clients and site users.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Time‑served Joiner/Carpenter or NVQ Level 2/3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a facilities management, building maintenance, or multi‑trade role.
- Strong carpentry skills with the ability to deliver high‑quality workmanship.
- Competence in general building fabric tasks (painting, basic plumbing, patch repairs).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in commercial environments (retail, healthcare, offices, education).
- Knowledge of fire door installation/maintenance.
- Basic electrical awareness (e.g., safe isolation).
- PASMA, IPAF, or other access equipment certifications.
- Understanding of building compliance and statutory maintenance.
