Role Overview and Purpose
- Utilise core skills as an Air Conditioning service engineer for reactive fault diagnostics and installations related to the company’s core activities.
- Full commissioning and servicing of HVAC equipment, chillers, air‑handling units and associated equipment.
- Assist with warranty repairs where necessary.
- Compile reports and information sheets in accordance with the company’s Quality System to convey the quality and performance of individual installations.
- Co‑operate with contract staff to achieve employer acceptance in line with agreed contract terms.
- Produce non‑commissioning related documentation as required, e.g., technical reports and reject reports for component or plant failures.
- Responsible for own health and safety on site, following method statements and risk assessments.
- Liaise with contract managers and support staff to arrange delivery and collection of materials and consumables.
- Assist as necessary with service, maintenance and warranty work when the commissioning workload becomes sporadic.
- Promote the after‑sales service and maintenance divisions of the company.
- Report any issues that may delay contract completion or jeopardise customer satisfaction.
- Perform any other duties, projects or tasks necessary to achieve company objectives within the remit of the role.
- Flexible to work across several sites with varied customers.
- Provide regular on‑call cover for site emergencies outside of normal working hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete a weekly timesheet correctly and submit it to the line manager.
- Submit expenses weekly with all supporting receipts.
- Complete all necessary paperwork for the customer on site and obtain signatures to enable invoicing without delay.
- Complete engineer’s worksheet in full, giving details of plant requiring additional work.
- Complete the Minor Works and Installation Certificates upon completion of any electrical installations or alterations.
- Call the line manager or office administrator at the end of every job to provide an update.
- Call the office help desk at the end of the day after the last job as part of the lone‑working procedure.
Essential Required Skills and Experience
- Full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points on licence and no pending cases).
- Minimum of 2 years field‑based service/fault‑finding experience.
Desirable Qualifications and Licences
- IPAF or PASMA certification.
- Knowledge and use of computer software – Microsoft Office, Building Management Systems.
- HVAC & Building Services Engineering experience.
- City & Guilds/NVQ – Building Services Engineering or Electrical Installation/Maintenance or equivalent.
Knowledge
- FGAS regulation (City & Guilds).
- NVQ / City & Guilds in Air Conditioning and/or Refrigeration.
- Manufacturer courses / knowledge.
