A Consultant post has become available in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LTHTR). The post will be an Obstetrics post with a special interest in maternal medicine, requiring participation in Obstetrics on call (total on call is 1:11 with addition of an obstetric hot week 1:12). We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team. A passion for obstetric services is essential.
LTHTR is a teaching hospital serving a local population of 450,000 across Greater Preston, Chorley and South Ribble. The Trust has approximately 4,500 births annually and a level three neonatal unit. We provide Bluebell and Rainbow clinics plus services for high‑risk pregnancies having recently become the Maternal medicine Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria, and we work closely with a nationally recognised, award‑winning team of midwives dedicated to improving the birth experience for all women. We offer all four choices for place of birth: midwifery‑led birth units at Royal Preston Hospital and at Chorley & South Ribble Hospital, and a 12‑bed obstetric unit at Royal Preston Hospital.
In gynaecology we provide services in benign gynaecology, early pregnancy, endometriosis, urogynaecology, ambulatory care, menopause, paediatric, endocrine disorders, vulval conditions and termination of pregnancy.
Preston is one of the four bases for Manchester University medical students. We provide academic and pastoral support to over 300 medical students in their clinical years 3, 4 and 5.
