A Workshop Plant Service Engineer is responsible for inspecting, servicing, repairing, and rebuilding plant and heavy equipment within a workshop environment. The role ensures machinery is maintained to manufacturer standards and ready for safe operation or rental.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on plant equipment in the workshop.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults.
- Carry out strip-downs, rebuilds, and component replacements.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) before equipment is sent to customers or job sites.
- Use diagnostic equipment and manufacturer software to identify faults.
- Replace parts such as: Hydraulic pumps and hoses; Bearings and seals; Filters and belts; Sensors and electrical components.
- Maintain accurate service reports and maintenance records.
- Follow health and safety procedures and workshop standards.
- Assist with equipment testing and quality checks after repairs.
