Band 8a Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Frailty (Fixed Term)

Contract

Position is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The actual duration will be adjusted to account for advertisement, hiring process, and pre‑employment checks, so the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 12 months.

About the Trust

Barking, Havering, and Redbridge University Trust (BHRUT) serves a growing ageing population (~18% aged 65+). The Trust is building integrated pathways across acute, community, and primary care to deliver early identification and intervention.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in medicines optimisation, patient reviews, education, and service improvement within frailty services.
• Provide and develop comprehensive, patient‑oriented services for frailty across the Trust.
• Work closely with the Lead Pharmacist for Frailty and out‑of‑hospital care to further innovate and develop the frailty service.
• Aim to reduce attendances to the Emergency Department, reduce acute admissions into hospital, and ensure safe and effective use of medicines for the elderly population.

Location

The role is based within the Barking, Havering, and Redbridge University Trust, with services operating from KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford.
