Field Engineer (077jc) – Covering South West England - £30k + benefits + OTE £40k

My client is seeking a skilled Field Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting clients across the M4 Corridor covering Wiltshire, Bristol, Devon and Cornwall. You will ideally be based in the Bath/Bristol area. This role involves installing, deploying and configuring IT hardware at a variety of customer sites while ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.

You will be part of a nationwide engineering network and play a key role in delivering high‑quality technical solutions and excellent customer service.

Following a training period, this role includes participation in an on‑call rota (approximately 1 week in every 4 weeks). You will receive £3k on‑call allowance, as well as overtime payments for each call out, which may involve out‑of‑hours and weekend work. Overtime opportunities are also available.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and deploy IT networking and point‑of‑sale hardware
• Configure hardware and troubleshoot installation issues
• Ensure smooth integration with existing client systems
• Provide technical support and guidance to customers on‑site
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations and service activities
• Collaborate with the service desk to deliver effective customer solutions
• Participate in an on‑call rota including out‑of‑hours support

Skills & Experience

• Strong networking and cabling experience, ideally across multiple networking technologies (Cisco experience beneficial)
• Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently
• Excellent time management and punctuality
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Self‑motivated with a problem‑solving mindset
• Flexible and able to adapt to changing environments
• A strong team player

Desirable (but not essential)

• Experience with ServiceNow
• SC clearance

Essential

• Full, clean UK driving licence; a company vehicle and fuel card is provided

This role would be an ideal role for anyone who has a good understanding of IT networks as full training will be provided and then the ability to progress within the company as they want to start everyone in this function. After being here for a couple of years, it will depend on where you wish to grow within the company as a lot of the senior management team have started in this role.

In return, the company offers a good starting salary of £30k, plus a £3k on‑call bonus even if you don’t get called out, and with overtime you can realistically earn about £40k per year.
