We’re hiring a commercially strong solicitor who can step into a live business, give clear advice fast, and take ownership of important legal, contract and compliance work.
We need a commercially minded lawyer who can add value quickly. This role covers commercial contracts, privacy, GDPR, compliance, global legal coordination, core SaaS documentation and product‑related legal review across Hubexo.
It is ideal for someone who can work at pace, exercise sound judgement, and support the business through a key fixed‑term period with practical, credible legal input.
Newcastle | 6‑month FTC | 4 days | £53,000 FTE pro rata
We are looking for an In‑House Legal Associate to join Hubexo on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. This role sits within Corporate Services and reports to our Chief People Officer. It is based in Newcastle upon Tyne and is offered on a 4‑day‑per‑week basis.
This is a role for a commercially strong solicitor who can step in quickly, provide practical legal support, and help us maintain continuity across legal, contractual, privacy and compliance activity. You will work across a varied workload and support teams across the business with sound judgement, clear advice and a calm, hands‑on approach.
This is not a role focused on building future structures from scratch. It is about keeping important legal work moving, supporting the business well, and helping us manage risk with clarity and pace.
You are a qualified solicitor with strong post‑qualification experience in commercial legal work. You are confident drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, and you know how to give clear, practical advice in a business environment.
You bring strong experience in data protection, privacy and GDPR matters, along with the judgement to balance legal risk with commercial reality. You may have built that experience in‑house or in a leading law firm supporting commercial clients. In either case, you are comfortable working closely with non‑legal stakeholders and explaining legal points in a way that helps people make decisions.
You are likely to have experience handling complex commercial agreements in a technology, SaaS or product‑led environment, and you are comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast‑moving business. Experience coordinating with external counsel, supporting international legal matters or contributing to product or launch‑related legal review would be valuable here.
You are organised, detail‑focused and able to manage a varied workload without losing pace or quality. You can work independently, become effective quickly, and bring a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset to a fixed‑term role. Experience with intellectual property, trademarks, governance or formal DPO activity would be useful, but they are not essential.
You should also be comfortable providing direction and support to a Contracts Administrator, helping maintain standards and momentum across legal and contractual administration activity.
