Associate Director - Consents Management
Lead consents management for national infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with the Development Consents Order, Transport and Works Act, and Town & Country Planning processes.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of an integrated project team to ensure the delivery of key client deliverables related to Nationally Significant Infrastructure projects and programmes navigating the development consents lifecycle.
- Occupy client or service roles involving consents leadership and management (pre & post consent), consent production and delivery, environmental impact assessments, consultation/stakeholder engagement, and procedural strategic advisory/assurance.
- Manage client relationships and identify and realise business development opportunities.
- Lead or contribute to the preparation of bid proposals or manage key bids.
- Lead internal initiatives within the Programme Advisory team, such as the development of programme integration products and methodologies.
- Mentor and/or manage members of the Programme Advisory team; line‑manage junior staff where applicable.
- Ensure excellent knowledge and practical experience of the lifecycle of a consents process from pre to post‑consent.
- Demonstrate technical understanding of consents strategy via different consenting routes (i.e., DCO, TWAO, Hybrid Bill).
- Demonstrate technical understanding of discharging primary and secondary consents and post‑consent deliverables.
- Coordinate approvals and notifications between all interested parties and manage consent management plans/strategies.
- Lead the production of high‑quality deliverables within challenging timescales.
- Build productive working relationships and identify new business opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Excellent knowledge and practical experience of the lifecycle of a consents process (pre‑to‑post consent).
- Technical understanding of consents strategy via different consenting routes (DCO, TWAO, Hybrid Bill).
- Experience of pre‑application and/or post‑consent liaison with internal and external stakeholders within large and complex organisations.
- Experience managing the production of high‑quality deliverables within challenging timescales.
- Experience of programme and/or project management within a complex environment with multiple workstreams, including DCO, TWAO and/or TCPA consenting environments.
- Experience working in, or familiarity with, a consulting environment.
- Professional track record of delivering tangible results with a nimble, can‑do attitude.
- Experience in infrastructure, transportation, utilities, defence, energy and natural resources (including nuclear), and real estate sectors.
- Strong leadership, analytical, problem‑solving, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent responsibilities.
