We're seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join our Older People and Physical Disability Commissioning Team.
Main Responsibilities
You will lead on commissioning activity across a range of priority areas, including:
- Supporting adults of all ages to live independently in the community for longer
- Equipment and assistive technology for people in their own homes
- Developing and strengthening the interface between NHS and social care markets
- Staffordshire Housing with Care Strategy 2024 - 2029
Your wider responsibilities will include:
- Developing and delivering commissioning strategies and plans aligned to the Council's strategic objectives
- Leading future commissioning arrangements for equipment and technology
- Co‑producing innovative, outcome‑focused services with people who use services and their carers/families
- Managing programmes and projects to agreed timescales and budgets
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with providers and key internal and external partners
- Driving greater collaboration with NHS commissioners and other local authorities
- Translating best practice and learning into practical commissioning solutions
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a confident and experienced commissioner with strong strategic and operational insight. You will bring:
- Proven experience of commissioning within adult social care and/or health
- Strong analytical skills, able to use data and evidence to set priorities and inform decision‑making
- A thorough understanding of adult social care legislation and practice, including strength‑based approaches and personalisation
- A detailed understanding of the NHS and the wider health and care system
- A track record of engaging with and shaping markets to improve outcomes
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- A clear commitment to engagement and co‑production, with experience of involving people who use services and their families/carers
This role will suit someone who can think strategically while remaining grounded in the realities of service delivery.
