Luxury Retail Manager – Piccadilly, London
The Whisky Shop is seeking a Retail Manager to lead our flagship Piccadilly store. This is an exciting role at the heart of the UK’s leading specialist whisky retailer.
We are looking for a commercially minded leader with deep roots in London’s luxury or premium on/off-trade scene.
This role requires someone who can drive sales, build meaningful relationships, and deliver a consistently high standard of in-store experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Piccadilly flagship store, ensuring a seamless, elevated customer journey at all times
- Drive sales performance, profitability, and KPIs through clear commercial focus and leading by example.
- Continuously manage, develop and inspire a high-performing team, ensuring excellence in customer service, product knowledge, and sales execution
- Deliver ‘approachable’ luxury hosting, including customer welcome, storytelling, upselling, and closing high-value sales
- Build and maintain strong relationships with high-net-worth clients, collectors, and whisky enthusiasts
- Drive and grow in-store events, positioning Piccadilly as a destination for premium experiences and as a hub for our London-based Loyalty programme Members.
- Oversee high store standards, visual merchandising, and stock management in line with our brand expectations
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior retail or hospitality management role within luxury retail or premium environments
- Proven commercial track record, with strong experience managing margins and analysing sales performance data
- Natural salesperson with the ability to engage, upsell, and close across a diverse, high-value clientele
- Established network in London, with an existing client base or strong potential customer address book
- Credibility and confidence working with brands and suppliers, including hosting visits, whisky tastings and events
- Excellent communication skills across phone, email, and WhatsApp, with a focus on building long-term client relationships.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to business development
- Passion for premium whisky and spirits, with a desire to create exceptional customer experiences
- Confidence and enthusiasm for content creation, with experience across social media channels, is a strong advantage - with the ability to bring the Piccadilly store experience to life digitally
Salary £40,000 – £60,000 depending on experience + discretionary six-monthly bonus
