Overview
Blood Sciences Manager responsible for general management leadership within the Pathology Directorate. The role contract‑manages delivery of pathology services from a third‑party partner, leads demand management, and ensures quality and value of service provision.
Responsibilities
- Contract‑manage the delivery and performance of outsourced pathology laboratory services.
- Lead demand management and secure initiatives to maximise value.
- Provide general management leadership for the Pathology Directorate, including London Bowel Cancer Screening Hub, Cytology Training Hub, Mortuary Services, Point of Care Testing and Blood Transfusion Service.
- Represent the service to the Clinical Director for Pathology and to Divisional, Trust and network‑level meetings as required.
- Lead directorate teams to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred services, strategic planning, service development and change programmes.
- Drive innovation, modernisation and high levels of staff and patient satisfaction.
- Deliver financial, quality, performance, productivity and workforce targets.
- Maintain internal controls for financial management, deployment of resources and adherence to Trust financial governance.
- Support the development and delivery of the business plan and lead cross‑Trust projects.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong background in biomedical science.
- Leadership experience within blood sciences highly desirable.
- Experience in contract management for laboratory services.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
- Proactive, assured leadership style.
