We are looking for motivated paediatric nurses who are enthusiastic, experienced and passionate about delivering high quality care to the children of Preston and surrounding area.
We want all our young patients and their families to have a positive experience whilst at our Trust and are looking for some very special staff to join our team.

Responsibilities
- As a band 6 on paediatrics, Ward 8, you will be responsible for day‑to‑day coordination of the unit and will work closely with the ward manager.
- Lead both clinical and leadership aspects: staff appraisals, completion of off‑duty paperwork in line with Trust policy, liaising with the clinical educator regarding training, managing sickness and absence, and performance management.
- Ensure efficient running of the paediatric ward, providing strong leadership, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice.
- Plan, deliver and evaluate care to meet the personalised health and wellbeing needs of patients, in line with the Trust’s values and the Nursing and Midwifery Professional Framework.
- Manage the area effectively, including personnel, facilities, and associated systems and processes.
- Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation.
- Deliver and coordinate care through appropriate professional practice.
- Maintain a high standard of nursing delivered by self and others, based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patient needs in accordance with local and national standards and evidence‑based guidelines.
- Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve patient experience and outcome.
- Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Promote provision of patient education and health promotion.
- Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.
- Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within the scope of the role and professional practice.

Other teams
Our ward‑based team is multidisciplinary and works closely with the Paediatric Assessment Unit, children’s outpatients department, and paediatric community service, including physios, pharmacists, play specialists, patient experience coordinators and the CAMHS team.
