This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Education Team and delivery of education for Specialist Palliative care in South Tyneside and Sunderland.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with significant experience as a senior nurse within Specialist palliative care to join the existing team and lead on the delivery and development of ongoing education that is required to support Palliative and end of life training.
The candidate will have direct line management for the end of life care facilitators across the community and acute trust.
The applicant would need to have experience within education delivery for palliative and end of life care and have significant experience at a senior nurse level within specialist palliative care. Evidence of education to master’s degree level and PGCE or equivalent and/or significant experience in education and training.
Experience of leading and managing a Team, there will be direct line management of the end-of-life care facilitators across the community and acute trust.
The applicant will be required to work clinically into Day services to support Specialist palliative care assessments at least weekly.
Evidence of ongoing professional development and the ability to lead, motivate and support individuals within the Team to develop.
Research and audit experience to support development of Training and education programmes based on current Palliative and end of life initiatives. Locally, regionally and nationally.
The role will sit with the community Directorate but will support training and education in line with the trust education department at the acute site.
There will be an expectation that candidates have skills and knowledge of current NHS policies and strategies as well as the relevant Palliative care initiatives and be able to use this information to develop training and education.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead, develop and implement a palliative and end of life care education and training strategy across South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.
