Electrical Systems Engineer
Location: Sunderland
Contract: Full Time (36 hours per week, Monday to Friday - early finish Friday)
Salary: £37,538 per annum
About the Opportunity
We're working with a reputable housing provider in Sunderland to recruit an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join their Property Safety team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in keeping homes and communities safe, delivering high-quality electrical and security system services across a large and diverse housing portfolio. You'll be involved in installing, maintaining, and repairing a range of systems while ensuring full compliance with industry standards and regulations.
About the Role
In this varied and hands‑on position, you will:
- Install, maintain, and repair systems including:
- Intruder alarms
- Door entry and access control systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Heating controls and BMS panels
- Carry out inspections and remedial lighting repairs in non‑domestic buildings
- Ensure all work complies with British Standards and 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
- Accurately complete electronic certification and documentation
- Diagnose faults efficiently using specialist tools and software
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders
- Participate in an out‑of‑hours rota when required
- Deliver excellent customer service at every interaction
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in an electrical discipline
- AM2 practical qualification
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong experience across domestic and commercial electrical work
You'll also have:
- Experience with fire alarms, intruder alarms, and access control systems
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety regulations and industry standards
- Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills
- Confidence using laptops/software to interrogate systems and interpret technical drawings
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
