Associate | Acquisition & Leveraged Finance | London
About the Opportunity:
A leading international financial institution with a highly established Acquisition Finance platform is seeking an Associate to join its London‑based origination team.
The team specialises in providing leveraged debt financing to private equity‑backed businesses, supporting leveraged buyouts, recapitalisations and related transactions. It is consistently active in the European sponsor‑backed leveraged finance market and works with some of the most sophisticated financial sponsors globally.
The platform combines balance‑sheet lending with close collaboration alongside capital markets teams to deliver loan and bond financing solutions. The London team focuses on private equity clients across the UK, Nordics and Central & Eastern Europe, working as part of a broader global network across Europe, North America and Asia.
The Role:
The team is looking to hire an Associate with 2-4 years of Leveraged Finance experience.
This role offers strong exposure to the execution of sponsor‑backed leveraged finance transactions, alongside support for origination initiatives. You will work closely with senior bankers on live deals, gain hands‑on credit and structuring experience across a wide range of industries, and contribute across both loan and bond financings.
The role suits a proactive self‑starter who can take ownership, work independently when required, and collaborate effectively within a lean, high‑performing deal team.
Key Responsibilities:
Transaction Execution & Credit Analysis
- Perform detailed business, market, valuation and credit analysis on potential transactions
- Review and challenge financial models, assumptions and sensitivities prepared by junior team members
- Prepare credit papers and support internal approval processes
- Review financial, commercial and other due diligence materials, clearly identifying and articulating key risks
- Support senior colleagues on legal documentation, including confidentiality agreements, term sheets and loan documentation
Client & Syndication Support
- Produce client pitch books and marketing materials for origination efforts
- Assist with the preparation of syndication materials, including Information Memoranda and management presentations
- Support responses to investor questions during syndication alongside senior bankers
Team & Process Management
- Support deal funding processes and coordinate with internal stakeholders as required
- Manage KYC and onboarding processes in line with internal and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with internal teams including Risk, Capital Markets, Legal, Compliance and Portfolio Management
- Provide guidance and support to Analysts, graduates and interns
- Identify and suggest opportunities to improve internal processes and ways of working
Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics or a related quantitative discipline
- 2-4 years' experience in Leveraged Finance, Acquisition Finance or a related credit role
- Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting principles and credit analysis
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented and comfortable managing multiple workstreams
- Motivated, ownership‑driven and able to perform with limited supervision
- Team‑oriented mindset with an interest in supporting junior colleagues
