We believe veterinary care should reach those who need it most - regardless of circumstance. As a Veterinary Surgeon with us, you won’t just be practicing medicine; you’ll be making a meaningful impact on vulnerable animals and the people that depend on them.

More about the role

Veterinary Surgeons at Blue Cross are exposed to a wide variety of medical, surgical and emergency cases, enabling rapid development of skills and confidence in general practice.

We have two full time positions available with the shift pattern being mostly Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, allowing for an excellent work-life pattern. You will be a part of the evening and weekend rota, which is shared between vets based across our Victoria, Merton and Hammersmith sites resulting in about 1 evening shift a month and 1 weekend day shift (compensated by time in lieu) every 6 weeks.

About the hospital

The range of work our teams carry out goes above and beyond what is offered in first opinion private practice, and we offer a high-quality working environment with facilities including digital X-Ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, multiparameter anaesthetic monitors and infusion pumps. Many of our vets hold certificates or have special interests and are more than happy to share their knowledge and help you develop your clinical skills.

We hold regular clinical governance discussions and have developed an award-winning set of clinical guidelines to assist our vets in pragmatic decision making, where patient welfare is a priority. High standards are important to us but so is the ability to discuss openly where lessons have been learnt, within a safe, non-judgmental environment.

About you

We're looking for a pragmatic and competent Veterinary Surgeon who thrives in a team environment. You'll demonstrate excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering compassionate care to our patients and their owners.

With a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to make a difference, you'll embody our Blue Cross values and contribute to our culture of compassion, courage, and inclusivity.
