Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tissue Viability Nurse (Band 6) to work within the Care Home Professional Support Team (CHPST) based at Ailsa Hospital NHS Ayrshire & Arran.
Hours
36 hours per week (full time) Monday to Friday. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What You Will Do
- Provide professional nursing support, advice, education and supervision to staff working in Older People and Adult Care Homes in Ayrshire & Arran.
- Link with the Tissue Viability Team and work in close partnership to support leadership and direction of strategic, professional and clinical nursing development and innovation in Tissue Viability in all Care Homes.
- Carry out a thorough holistic patient assessment and provide specialist clinical advice to a range of professionals including GPs, registered general nurses, mental health nurses and other health professionals on wound management and related therapies.
- Work independently, manage your own diary and have the ability to drive, using your own car, to community locations/care homes throughout Ayrshire and Arran.
Knowledge, Training and Experience Required
- Registered nurse with the NMC and a minimum of 2 years practice post registration.
- Hold a degree and demonstrate post registration education in Tissue Viability or be working towards it.
- Good knowledge/experience of pressure ulcer prevention and management and acute/chronic complex wounds.
- Experience of quality improvement methodologies to support, deliver and demonstrate changes in practice that can be sustained.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to exert a positive influence and develop constructive working relationships across Health and Social Care Partnership Services with a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical staff and individuals.

- Right to work in the United Kingdom; suitable for sponsorship subject to criteria.
- From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours (pro‑rated for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.
