Role Overview

Reporting to the Transport Planning Manager, you will be responsible for planning all customer collections and deliveries in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, while maximising vehicle utilisation to meet the companys and customers requirements in a safe and well-managed environment. You will work closely with the dayshift planning teams, providing a detailed and accurate handover at the end of each shift.

Based at our Head Office in Dromore, Co. Down, you will oversee nightshift traffic activities across all depots.

This is a vital role within the business managing the link between nightshift and dayshift activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maximise vehicle utilisation.
• Plan routes to meet customer KPIs and comply with drivers hours legislation.
• Issue drivers with clear instructions.
• Ensure all driver briefings and de-briefs are completed daily.
• Maintain the live Traffic Management System.
• React to changing situations to accommodate additional business, maximise service performance, and reduce delays.
• Monitor vehicle movements to maintain clear and effective control of the fleet.
• Create solutions to meet customers needs and requirements.
• Manage customer queries and issues, keeping customers informed and updated on changes.

• Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on approach
• Commercially astute with a customer-focused mindset
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, pressurised environment
• Strong geographic knowledge of Ireland and the UK
• Ability to analyse data and make informed operational decisions
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using Transport Management Systems

Essential Criteria

• Minimum 2 years experience in road haulage or transport planning, including team management
• Full UK driving licence
