SENIOR SITE ENGINEER REQUIRED ON PERMANENT BASIS IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE FOR A MAIN CONTRACTOR

We are looking for a highly experienced and organised Senior Site Engineer on behalf of a Main Contractor within the Cambridgeshire region. This is a key site-based role where you will lead the engineering and technical delivery of construction works while driving the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental performance. You will also play a crucial role in mentoring junior Site Engineers and helping us deliver projects successfully, on time, and to exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical & Quality Assurance: Ensure all works are delivered in full compliance with contract specifications, drawings, and relevant standards. Maintain accurate records to demonstrate compliance and support project assurance processes.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, their representatives, and project stakeholders.
- Leadership & Culture: Champion the company's values and support the implementation of policies for Sustainability, Health & Safety, Quality, Environmental Management, and Learning & Development.
- Systems & Standards: Apply and maintain the company's Business Management System and drive a consistent approach to project delivery.
- Problem Solving: Identify potential issues early and lead on the resolution of technical and delivery challenges.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement activities and support innovation across the business.
- People Management: Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineering staff, including responsibility for annual performance reviews and development planning.
- General Duties: Undertake any other duties required to support the successful delivery of site works.
About You
Experience: Significant experience in a similar role as a Senior Site Engineer within the main contractor environment (essential).
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or construction discipline (preferred).
- SMSTS qualification (essential).
- Appropriate CSCS card (essential).
Technical Expertise
Strong engineering knowledge and a practical understanding of modern construction techniques and standards.
Leadership & Communication
Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and support others.
Analytical & Problem‑Solving
Proven ability to think critically, solve problems, and apply logical approaches to complex site issues.
Organisation & Attention to Detail
Highly organised with strong time management skills and a keen eye for detail.
