Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and provide day-to-day supervision of care staff, ensuring consistent and safe care delivery.
- Assist in the implementation and review of personalised care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Foster a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment to support children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- Manage incidents, safeguarding concerns, and challenging behaviours with confidence, ensuring all appropriate reporting and follow-up are completed.
Qualifications
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Willingness to work towards a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management
- Commitment to continuous professional development
Registration & Compliance
- Knowledge of Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and safeguarding children frameworks
- Understanding of the Care Standards Act 2000
- Enhanced DBS clearance

- Strong leadership and team coordination skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with children and young people
- Understanding of behaviour management and therapeutic approaches
- Effective communication and organisational skills
- Ability to remain composed and make decisions in challenging situations
Experience
- Experience working within a children's residential care setting
- Experience supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural needs
- Previous experience in a senior support or team leader role (desirable)
- Experience working within Ofsted-regulated services (advantageous)
