The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant with strong audit experience to join our team. This is a hands‑on role offering a mix of audit and accounts preparation. The opportunity is to join a successful growing practice with a bright future. The successful candidate should feel comfortable drafting accounts and contributing to audit work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage audit assignments from planning through to completion
- Prepare statutory accounts for a range of clients (limited companies, partnerships, sole traders)
- Review work prepared by junior staff and provide guidance and mentorship
- Liaise directly with clients, building and maintaining strong relationships
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting and auditing standards
- Assist with corporation tax computations and returns
Requirements
- ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in practice, including audit
- Strong technical knowledge of FRS 102 and auditing standards
- Experience managing audit assignments and leading small teams
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple deadlines
- Good working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Desirable
- Experience working with SMEs and owner‑managed businesses
- Exposure to cloud accounting systems and digital tools
- Interest in business advisory and client relationship development
