Description
This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded Knowledge Lawyer team within a large and ambitious Employment Department at a leading City law firm. The role has a strong external and internal profile and plays a central part in driving quality, consistency, innovation and commercial impact across the practice.
You will work closely with partners, fee‑earners and other Knowledge Lawyers to shape and deliver the department's knowledge strategy, supporting both legal excellence and business development. The role combines traditional knowledge responsibilities with thought leadership, client engagement, training and the use of AI and legal technology to enhance legal service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Shaping and implementing the Employment team's knowledge strategy in line with wider firm objectives
- Producing high‑quality external content including client alerts, articles and thought leadership for legal and mainstream publications
- Designing and delivering internal and client training in collaboration with the firm's academy
- Drafting, maintaining and enhancing precedents, practice notes, know‑how and client guides, including automated documentation
- Monitoring legislative, regulatory and case law developments and delivering horizon‑scanning insights
- Acting as a technical resource for lawyers on employment law and practice issues
- Supporting business development initiatives through targeted knowledge and content
- Using AI and legal technology to drive efficiency, compliance and innovation
- Working with Risk & Compliance to embed best practice and support regulatory change
Profile
- Around 5+ years' PQE, either as a Knowledge/PSL lawyer or a senior fee‑earner able to demonstrate strong knowledge‑lawyer credentials
- Deep technical knowledge of UK employment law and practice
- Excellent drafting and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Proven enthusiasm for knowledge sharing, training and commercial use of know‑how
- Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, clients and external organisations
- Interest in innovation, AI and new ways of delivering legal services
- Confident, personable and collaborative, with the ability to work autonomously
