An opportunity has arisen for a Tissue Viability Clinical Nurse Specialist to work in the Wound Care Team for East London Foundation Trust in Bedfordshire Community Healthcare Service. This role is responsible for the delivery of safe and effective services for patients with tissue viability needs within the community services of Bedfordshire.
Qualifications
- First level registered nurse with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience, at least 2 years in wound care specialty, recognised wound care qualification and qualification in sharp debridement.
- Caring for a variety of wounds including burns, leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and wounds requiring negative pressure.
- Qualified to degree level and holding or working towards a BSc in Tissue Viability or Dermatology.
- Mentorship qualification and training in Quality Improvement.
- Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical leadership, specialist assessment and evidence‑based advice to community nursing teams, mental health teams, care homes and other partners across Mid Bedfordshire.
- Drive pressure ulcer prevention, support complex wound management and lead quality‑improvement initiatives that directly enhance patient outcomes.
- Support a team of nurses to ensure management of complex wounds, including leg ulcers and pressure ulcers, is supported in line with pressure ulcer pathway and national wound care guidance.
- Conduct specialist reviews within agreed time lines and support learning from pressure ulcer incidents.
- Provide specialist advice and clinical input into the prevention of pressure ulcers and the management of complex wounds.
- Support and deliver education and training of health care professionals in wound prevention and management.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to prevent hospital admissions, support early discharge and provide ongoing support and advice for patients with wounds.
- Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner and represent the clinical lead when they are not available.
- Support the delivery of cost‑effective care and wound formulary compliance.
