Overview
An Assistant Psychologist will be based across Bowmere Hospital’s rehab ward, Maple ward, acute wards Juniper and Beech, and the PICU ward, Willow. Working within a multidisciplinary team comprising two Consultant Clinical Psychologists, a Qualified Clinical Psychologist, trainee psychologists, and other staff, the role focuses on supporting people with mental health difficulties in community transition or acute care settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct psychological assessment and interventions (individual and group) under the supervision of qualified Clinical Psychologists.
- Contribute to MDT formulation meetings, team reflective practice, and formulation meetings.
- Support the development and implementation of psychologically informed behavioural and crisis plans.
- Assist in clinical administration, audit and data collection.
- Support and train non‑psychology staff in psychological interventions.
- Participate in joint working with community and specialist transition teams to understand commissioning and social care integration.
- Engage in professional development opportunities and network with regional training programmes.
Qualifications
- Graduated with a psychology degree or equivalent that confers Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Experience working with people experiencing mental health difficulties, demonstrating compassion and optimism.
- Ability to work within an inpatient multidisciplinary team and manage individual and group therapeutic interventions.
- Full time commitment, based at Bowmere Hospital, Countess of Chester.
