About the role
We are currently looking for a Innovation Expert to join the Innovation and Compliance Function within the Scientific Research and Innovation group.
This is a full‑time and permanent opportunity. The role will be based at 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London, E14 4PU.
Government departments and agencies are working toward a minimum 60% attendance in office sites, but we are implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working. Employees are expected to work a minimum of 8 days per month on site, with the possibility of up to 12 days depending on business needs.
The core purpose of the Innovation Expert is to provide authoritative, strategic scientific and regulatory leadership on emerging healthcare innovations, including artificial intelligence, ensuring that patient safety and public health are protected while enabling timely access to new and transformative products.
Key responsibilities
- Provide senior regulatory and scientific leadership
- Act as lead advisor on complex, cross‑agency regulatory issues
- Lead and coordinate multi‑disciplinary expert teams
- Lead the development of guidance and policy position statements
Who we seek
- Ability to problem‑solve, apply evidence‑based judgment, and make decisions in challenging environments
- Experience working at senior levels in organisations as a systems leader to deliver high‑impact projects and demonstrate the ability to work with multiple stakeholders, communicate effectively, influence key stakeholders, and deliver changes and improvements
- Senior‑level systems leadership expertise within academia, regulatory/public body, or commercial organisation with relevant scientific and regulatory expertise
- Significant postgraduate experience with evidence of career progression
- Technical expertise in medicines, devices and/or artificial intelligence
Technical criteria
- Masters level degree; ideally MB BS, MD, MPhil, PhD or equivalent. Significant postgraduate experience with evidence of career progression
- Broad understanding of the regulatory frameworks and policy context for medicines and/or devices in the UK and/or globally
