VANRATH are delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established organisation within the automotive and commercial vehicle sector to recruit an experienced Panel Beater. This is a hands-on workshop role focused on the repair and restoration of vehicle bodywork to a high standard.
The successful candidate will be joining a busy and professional bodyshop environment where quality, accuracy, and efficiency are essential. Following an initial 6-month period, the role includes a graded assessment with the opportunity for salary progression based on performance.
Working Hours
Full-time position
Monday to Friday
Standard workshop hours (overtime may be available depending on workload)
The Role
* Carry out repair work on damaged vehicle panels to restore them to manufacturer and company standards
* Remove, repair, and replace damaged body panels and components as required
* Use a range of panel beating techniques including welding, filling, and reshaping metalwork
* Assess vehicle damage and determine appropriate repair methods
* Prepare vehicles for refinishing in collaboration with spray painting colleagues
* Ensure all repairs are completed accurately, safely, and within agreed timeframes
* Work to manufacturer specifications and internal quality standards at all times
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety procedures
* Liaise with workshop colleagues to ensure efficient workflow and job progression
* Identify additional damage or repair requirements and report accordingly
The Person
* Proven experience as a Panel Beater within an automotive, commercial vehicle, or bodyshop environment is essential
* Strong understanding of vehicle body repair techniques and processes
* Ability to carry out structural and non-structural repairs to a high standard
* Experience working with a variety of vehicle types, ideally including commercial vehicles
* High attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality workmanship
* Ability to read and interpret damage assessments and repair requirements
* Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach
* Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
* Good awareness of health and safety procedures in a workshop environment
* Reliable, motivated, and able to work effectively under pressure
Desirable Criteria
* NVQ/City & Guilds qualification in Vehicle Body Repair or equivalent would be advantageous
* Previous experience working in a commercial vehicle environment would be beneficial
