VANRATH are delighted to be partnering with a well-established organisation within the automotive and commercial vehicle sector to recruit an experienced Spray Painter. This is a hands-on workshop role responsible for delivering high-quality paint finishes across a range of commercial vehicles and components.

The successful candidate will be joining a busy and fast-paced environment where attention to detail, quality workmanship, and efficiency are key. Following a 6-month period, the successful candidate will be subject to a graded assessment with the opportunity for salary progression based on performance.

Working Hours

Full-time position
Monday to Friday
Standard workshop hours (overtime may be available depending on business needs)

The Role

* Prepare vehicle panels and components for refinishing, including sanding, masking, and priming
* Carry out high-quality spray painting work on commercial vehicles, parts, and bodywork
* Mix, match, and apply paint systems to achieve accurate colour and finish consistency
* Inspect completed work to ensure it meets required quality standards prior to sign-off
* Identify and correct any imperfections or defects in paintwork
* Work closely with bodyshop and workshop colleagues to support smooth workflow and turnaround times
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety procedures
* Ensure spray equipment and tools are correctly maintained and used appropriately
* Support wider workshop operations when required
* Follow manufacturer specifications and internal quality control processes at all times

The Person

* Proven experience as a Spray Painter within an automotive, commercial vehicle, or bodyshop environment is essential
* Strong knowledge of paint preparation, application techniques, and finishing processes
* Ability to consistently produce high-quality workmanship with strong attention to detail
* Experience working with a range of paint systems and materials
* Good colour matching ability and understanding of refinishing standards
* Capable of working independently as well as contributing to a team environment
* Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
* Reliable, self-motivated, and proactive approach to work
* Good understanding of health and safety within a workshop setting
* Able to maintain high standards under pressure in a busy environment

Desirable Criteria

* ATA accreditation or relevant industry qualification would be advantageous
* Previous experience working with heavy goods vehicles or commercial fleets would be beneficial
