Overall Role
Provide high-quality client service by advising on insurance programmes, negotiating and placing appropriate coverage, and ensuring all activities align with internal quality standards and best practices.
Key Responsibilities & Core Competencies
Quoting, Placement & Post-Contract Changes
- Assess risk exposures and provide tailored insurance advice and coverage solutions.
- Design placement structures aligned with clients’ operations, risk profiles, and transfer objectives.
- Prepare and present submissions to the market to secure optimal terms with full disclosure.
- Negotiate with insurers to achieve the best combination of carrier, coverage, and pricing.
- Address subjectivities and warranties in line with client and insurer requirements.
- Manage and negotiate post-placement amendments, including endorsements.
- Contribute to new business development and placement activities.
Market Relationships
- Build and maintain strong insurer relationships to maximise placement opportunities.
Management Information
- Prepare and analyse data on premiums, brokerage, claims, renewals, and other key metrics as required.
Client Management
- Understand and manage client needs in line with agreed terms of engagement.
- Develop and sustain strong, long-term client relationships.
- Deliver high client retention through effective renewal planning and execution.
- Ensure adequate resourcing for day-to-day client servicing and escalate issues when necessary.
- Maintain a high standard of service with no justified client complaints.
File Management
- Maintain accurate, timely records of negotiations, communications, and placements.
- Ensure all documentation is properly stored (electronic and physical) in line with internal procedures, providing a full audit trail.
Compliance & Governance
- Adhere to all legal, regulatory, and internal Best Practice requirements across broking, placement, and servicing activities.
- Maintain high technical standards to minimise errors and exposure.
- Ensure confidentiality of all client and business information.
- Complete financial and documentation checks accurately and obtain required approvals.
- Regularly review files to ensure compliance with audit and record-keeping standards.
- Support implementation of regulatory or process changes.
- Identify and report any suspicious financial activity.
General
- Act with integrity and professionalism in all dealings.
- Take ownership of continuous professional development and remain up to date with industry and legal developments.
Desirable Experience
- Min 5-6 years experience placing or producing Property D&F business within the London Market
- Professional insurance qualification (e.g., Cert CII) or equivalent experience.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of insurance market structure, regulation, and current practices.
- LLMIT qualification or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of sector-specific risks and insurance solutions.
- Experience in slip drafting, risk analysis, and negotiation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong client servicing and account development capability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel (basic level).
- Effective relationship management, planning, and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.
- Understanding of the placement process.
- Familiarity with core IT systems (e.g., TWINS) for data entry and retrieval.
