An established, privately owned engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to support the Managing Director in the day-to-day running of the business and oversee the delivery of multiple live projects.
This is a key leadership role within a small, quality-driven contractor, offering genuine long-term progression into Director-level positions and potential ownership.
Role Overview
You will work closely with the Managing Director/Owner, taking responsibility for the operational performance of the business, with oversight across 6–10 live commercial projects at any one time.
The role requires a strong engineering background, ideally mechanically biased, with the ability to manage both people and projects in a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Managing Director in the day-to-day operations of the business
- Oversee delivery across multiple live projects (typically 6–10)
- Provide leadership and support to project teams and site managers
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, and to a high standard of quality
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and supply chain partners
- Monitor programme performance, resources, and operational efficiency
- Support business growth and contribute to strategic planning

Experience & Requirements
- Proven experience in an Operations Manager or Senior Project/Contracts Manager role
- Strong engineering background, ideally mechanical
- Experience overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
- Background in commercial construction or building services projects
- Ability to lead teams and manage operational performance
