In-house Counsel - Supervision and Compliance

A leading law firm is looking to appoint an in-house Supervision & Compliance Specialist to join its risk and compliance function.

This is a broad, hands-on role focused on supervising the firm behind the scenes, carrying out file reviews, investigating matters, handling complaints, identifying risk areas, and making practical recommendations to support sound decision-making across the business.

The role would suit a lawyer who is strong technically, commercially aware, and excellent with people. You will need the confidence to work closely with partners and senior lawyers, exercise sound judgement, and approach issues in a calm, balanced and pragmatic way.

The role will involve:

• Investigating issues and identifying themes, trends, and risk areas.
• Handling complaints from initial review through to resolution.
• Working with partners and senior lawyers to address concerns and implement solutions.
• Supporting wider risk-related work across the firm.

We are looking for:

• Around 5+ PQE or equivalent experience.
• A strong background in law firms, ideally with exposure to risk, compliance, supervision, complaints, claims, or professional negligence.
• Excellent judgement and a commercial approach.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to influence senior stakeholders.
• A collaborative, organised, and detail-focused style.
