The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HSSEQ professional to join Speedy as an HSSEQ Manager, supporting operations across the UK.
This is a national, field-based role offering variety, autonomy, and the chance to play a key role in driving a positive Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) culture across a large, operationally diverse business.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior HSSEQ Manager, you will support the effective implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Speedy's HSSEQ systems.
Acting as a trusted advisor to operational teams, you will provide day-to-day guidance, ensure compliance with legal and industry standards, and help embed best practice across depots, worksites, and facilities nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
HSSEQ Management Systems
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS)
- Ensure procedures, guidance documents, and forms are current and accessible
- Assist with internal and external audits, including evidence gathering and tracking actions
- Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
Operational HSSEQ Support
- Provide practical HSSEQ advice across depots, sites, and offices
- Support risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
- Conduct site inspections and produce clear, actionable reports
- Assist with incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor HSSEQ KPIs and contribute to reporting and dashboards
- Track audit actions, compliance tasks, and improvement initiatives
- Prepare reports for senior HSSEQ and operational leadership
Training & Competence
- Coordinate HSSEQ training, inductions, and toolbox talks
- Maintain training records and certification compliance
- Deliver HSSEQ briefings and awareness sessions
Culture & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a strong HSSEQ culture through engagement and coaching
- Support business-wide HSSEQ campaigns and initiatives
- Identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve operational performance
Regulatory & Client Compliance
- Support compliance with legislation and client requirements
- Assist with tenders, PQQs, and client audits
- Stay up to date with industry standards and best practice
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Experience in an HSSEQ role within a relevant industry
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) plus NVQ Level 5 (or above) in Occupational Health & Safety
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
- Strong communication and coaching skills
- Ability to conduct inspections, investigations, and deliver HSSEQ training
Desirable:
- Lead or Internal Auditor qualification
- Environmental management training (certificate level)
- Incident investigation training
- Experience supporting multiple sites or regions
