University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Band 6 Nurse Specialist – one year fixed‑term to cover maternity leave – within the Specialist Epilepsy Service. The role involves working closely with neurological consultants and the multidisciplinary team to provide care for patients managed with medication or neurosurgical treatment.

The post holder will serve as a key point of contact for patients with epilepsy, providing clinical reviews both virtually and face‑to‑face in an outpatient environment and delivering education to nursing teams within the Wessex neurological centre. The role requires joint working with consultants at UHS and liaising with healthcare professionals and community services across the region.

Person Specification

Qualifications, knowledge and experience:

• Registered nurse on the relevant part of the NMC register
• Degree qualification or equivalent 120 credits at Level 6
• Post‑registration qualification within the area of speciality or equivalent experience
• Completion of all Band 5 preceptorship competencies
• Extensive post‑registration experience within a specialist area
• Registered on MSc Pathway – completion of HTPA competencies
• Act in the role of Practice Assessor or support the progression of learners
• Counselling qualification
• Palliative care course
• IT training
