EZO Senior Contracts Manager
Due to continued growth we’re looking for a hands-on, Senior Contracts Manager to join our growing operations team in. This role is perfect for someone who has strong commercial acumen, enjoys solving technical problems, and wants to be part of a sustainable future.
We are seeking skilled and motivated Senior Contracts Manager to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the Scottish Highlands. This is a field-based role requiring extensive travel to remote and rural locations, so flexibility and a proactive mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Administration
- Administer NEC4 contracts from award to closeout, including early warning notices, compensation events and programme assessments.
- Monitor contractor performance against the accepted programme and drive corrective action where required.
- Oversee wayleave agreements, DNO connection applications and consent processes as they relate to contract scope.
Commercial & Financial
- Maintain cost control across concurrent projects, tracking budgets, forecasting outturns and reporting variances to senior stakeholders.
- Assess and negotiate compensation events in accordance with NEC4 clauses and certify contractor payment applications.
- Chair early warning meetings, maintain risk registers and provide regular cost and programme reports to the EZO senior team.
Health & Safety
- Ensure all contracts include and enforce robust health and safety obligations, including compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDR 2015).
- Confirm Principal Contractor and Principal Designer appointments are in place and that pre-construction information is issued prior to works commencing.
- Review and approve contractor Construction Phase Plans and monitor ongoing compliance throughout the contract period.
- Ensure contractor RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) are submitted, reviewed and approved before works commence on site, with particular attention to electrical isolation, working at height and excavation activities associated with EV charging installation.
- Monitor site safety performance, maintain records of inspections and incidents, and ensure all reportable occurrences are managed in accordance with RIDDOR.
- Incorporate health and safety KPIs into contractor performance reviews and take contractual action where standards are not met.
Council Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary contact for local authority stakeholders across highways, planning and sustainability teams, attending council meetings and briefings as required.
- Support councils on compliance with the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 and engage with communications teams on public-facing activities.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure works comply with Scopes, Specifications, BS 7671, PAS 1899 and OZEV/NESO guidance, monitoring contractor quality plans and maintaining full contract documentation.
Requirements
Essential
- Trade/ Engineering background with more than 5 years experience
- Demonstrable experience administering NEC4 contracts on civils, electrical or infrastructure programmes.
- Sound knowledge of CDM 2015 duties and health and safety management within a construction contracts environment.
- Proven experience engaging with local government, with an understanding of council governance and procurement requirements.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage cost, risk and programme across multiple concurrent projects.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- NEC4 accreditation or professional membership (ICE, APM or RICS).
- Familiarity with the UK EV charging landscape, including OZEV grant schemes and DNO connection processes.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification, or equivalent health and safety training
