Patent Litigation Associate

A leading Magic Circle law firm is seeking an Associate with 1–3 years’ experience to join its patent litigation practice in London. The role offers the opportunity to work on market‑leading, high‑stakes patent disputes, often with a significant cross‑border dimension.

The Practice

The team is widely recognised for its work on complex, strategically important patent litigation, acting for major innovators, technology-driven businesses and life sciences companies. Matters frequently involve parallel proceedings across multiple jurisdictions and require close collaboration with international colleagues, external technical experts and barristers.

The Role

Associates in the team can expect early responsibility and exposure to all aspects of patent litigation, including:

• UK High Court and appellate patent proceedings
• Multi‑jurisdictional litigation and coordination of global strategies
• Key procedural steps, pleadings, evidence and interlocutory applications
• Working closely with experts, counsel and clients on technically complex issues

The role offers an excellent platform for developing deep technical knowledge alongside first‑class litigation skills.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will:

• Have 1–3 years’ post‑qualification (or equivalent) experience in patent litigation
• Be technically strong, analytically rigorous and comfortable working with complex scientific material
• Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
• Be motivated, collaborative and keen to take on responsibility within a fast‑paced environment

A scientific background is advantageous but not essential.
