Overview
Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to support the Family Help team within Children & Young People’s Services. You’ll provide leadership, oversight and high‑quality practice to safeguard vulnerable children and improve outcomes across Early Help.
Key Responsibilities- Support the management, development and leadership of the Family Help team
- Ensure statutory safeguarding duties are met in line with legislation and policy
- Investigate and manage risk where children may experience significant harm
- Gather, analyse and evaluate information to inform risk assessments and support plans
- Hold and manage a complex caseload with appropriate supervision
- Prepare written statements and court documentation when required
- Provide professional challenge, critical reflection and quality oversight of casework
- Supervise and develop team members, including ASYEs and students
- Chair or contribute to multi‑agency meetings and coordinate service delivery
- Promote evidence‑based practice and innovative approaches within Family Help
- Support performance management, quality assurance and workforce development
- Use and support others in using Liquid Logic effectively
- Deputise for the Team Manager when required
About You
- Qualified Social Worker with significant post‑qualifying experience
- Strong safeguarding, assessment and risk‑management skills
- Confident in supervising staff and supporting professional development
- Skilled communicator, able to work in challenging or emotionally charged situations
- Knowledge of social work theories, models and evidence‑based interventions
- Strong multi‑agency working and leadership capability
