Role summary
In conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Manager, the Clinical Nurse Specialist contributes to delivering a high standard of care to individuals with complex bladder and bowel needs in a variety of settings. The role is field based and covers both acute and primary care. (Revision 1 June 2025.)
The Clinical Nurse Specialist role also facilitates educational programmes as required and will promote Clinisupplies home delivery service for individuals requiring specialist products for the management of their bladder or bowel symptoms.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote the use of Nightingale home delivery service for patients requiring specialist products appropriate to individual need.
- Actively seek potential business opportunities on behalf of the organization.
- Ensure individuals are offered a holistic assessment and their individual needs are managed appropriately.
- Manage patient referrals of individuals requiring support and management of their continence needs.
- Develop and deliver a service for individual clients in their own home or in a clinic environment.
- Work autonomously with individuals to ensure high standards of care are delivered in the promotion of continence and management of incontinence.
- Perform clinical procedures, investigations, or interventions competently while maintaining a safe, dignified, and confidential environment for the client.
- Participate in delivering training for the development of others.
- Maintain a high standard of professional competence within a framework of clinical governance.
- Always maintain a professional attitude in the best interest of the clients and professionals in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical record keeping.
- Produce reports when requested by the Clinical Nurse Manager.
- Participate in clinical audit to review and monitor service activity.
- Ensure quality standards that improve the clients experience and outcomes are implemented.
- Maintain personal development to provide a high level of specialist care and support, in accordance with NMC requirements.
- Attend regular meetings with Clinical Nurse Manager and participate in personal development review as requested.
- Attend meetings as required at Clinisupplies.
Qualifications and Experience

- Strong knowledge and application of NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice.
- Capable of undertaking a specialist holistic assessment, diagnosing, planning, and evaluating care.
- Ability to manage caseload and associated resources.
- Work autonomously.
- High level of clinical competence in relation to the specialism.
- Provide specialist advice and support to healthcare professionals, patients, and their carers.
- Exhibit written skills that are relevant, accurate, and concise.
- Take individual responsibility for health and safety.
- Registered Nurse.
- Post‑registration experience within a urology or continence environment.
- First level degree in a health‑related subject or working towards.
- Demonstrable experience of teaching or delivering training.
- Evidence of working with adults who have complex continence issues.
- Experience of working in a commercial healthcare environment.
- Understanding of audit processes.
- Knowledge of home delivery services for specialist products.
